Arriving in Venice Once you have chosen a color, place one of your playing pieces on the "Hotel Venezia" space. Place your second playing piece on the arrow at the start of the passion points scale, on the outer edge of the game board. You will explore Venice by rolling the die and advancing your playing piece clockwise around the board. Each time around the circuit is the equivalent of one day. You start and finish each circuit at Hotel Venezia and must complete the city circuit three times. Your romantic journey concludes at Hotel Venezia at the end of the third day. As you move around the board, you have the option to use canals in order to take shortcuts. However, the faster you move around the circuit, the fewer souvenirs you'll bring back! Now, play the "Barcarolles in Venice" CD and let the passionate Italian melodies work their charms |

La visite de Venise Throughout your stay in Venice, you'll take advantage of the intimacy of alleyways, historic sites and gondolas to get close to your lover. You'll visit famous landmarks and bring back souvenirs. Below are the various places that you will pass through: Venetian Alleyways (beige spaces) You must draw an "Intimate Moment Alleyways" card and follow the instructions.
Venetian Canals (blue spaces) Draw an "Intimate Moment - Canals" card and follow the instructions.
Landing Stages (yellow spaces) Here you find signs directing you elsewhere. You must immediately go to the space specified on the landing stage and perform the required action, if any.
Historic Sites (green spaces) Each time you visit a historic site, you can acquire a souvenir. Randomly draw one of the two admission tickets for the historic site you are visiting. To win the game, you must have at least 3 souvenirs cards. Otherwise, you will need to stay another day and complete a fourth circuit, doing the activities specified for "Day 3".
«Gondole, Traghetto and Vaporetto» (dark blue spaces) When you land on a space related to water transportation, there is no action required (think of it as a moment to catch your breath). However, you must travel by canal on your next turn.
Fortuna (red spaces) What do the stars say? Find out if luck is on your side: draw a Fortuna card and follow the instructions.
Splash! You accidentally drop one of your souvenirs into the water. Your partner randomly selects one of your souvenir cards, which must be returned to the pile.(You can acquire a replacement later by returning to the historic site where you got it.)
Hotel Venezia This is your starting point. Each time you come here after completing a circuit, one day ends and a new day begins. Regardless of the number shown on the die, you must stop on this space and draw a Fortuna card.. |

Passion Points The passion points scale, segmented by four medallions, occupies the outer edge of the game board. Its purpose is to keep track of the passion points accumulated by each player. At the end of the game, the winner can obtain one "Night of Passion" card for each batch of 10 points he/she has earned, up to a maximum of 4 cards. |

How do I accumulate passion points? Each player places his pawn on the point scale and adds his points along the way. There are three ways to accumulate passion points. First, by creating drawings and sculptures: the player who is able to guess what the drawing is wins 2 passion points. Then, by performing intimate tasks (which do not include creating drawings or sculptures) : the player earns 1 passion point. Lastly, at the end of the game, when the winner adds up the souvenirs he or she has managed to accumulate, he also adds to the total the points that each souvenir is worth. |
|
How do I advance on the game board? Players must advance clockwise along the route. They can take the alleyways route (beige spaces) or the canal route (blue spaces). Each player can determine his own route. The goal is to visit the most monuments (greens spaces) as these allow you to accumulate several additional passion points. |
|
How do I proceed when asked to create a sculpture or drawing? After reading the latest card drawn, the player must not reveal the subject of the sculpture or drawing he must make. It is up to his partner to guess what the subject might be as he creates the artwork. The player has 2 minutes to complete the artwork. His partner has the same amount of time to guess the subject. If his partner cannot guess, then both players lose 2 passion points each. If his partner guesses right then he wins 2 passions points while the player who created the artwork rolls again but does not win any passion points. |
|
What happens when a pawn reaches a ³monument² space (green)? When a player reaches one of these spaces, he takes the card the matches the space. There are 2 cards for each monument visited. The player must then choose between the two at random. On the back of these cards is an image of the 'souvenir boutique''. A venetian gift is associated with the passion points. The player keeps this card until the end. It will allow him to add his passion points to the total accumulated during the game. |
|
Where are the locations marked on the yellow spaces (ex: ³PER SAN MARCO²)? When a pawn reaches one of these spaces, the player must go the location as marked. PER means ³to get there² . There are 5 directions in all: 1. Per Campo Santa Margherita sends you to a beige space located 2 spaces further than the monument"Ca Rezzonico". 2. Per San Marco sends you to a beige space located right after the ³Palazzo Ducale² monument. 3. Per Madonna dell'Orto sends you to a green space, a monument, located at the top of the game board. 4. Per Rialto sends you to a green space, a monument, located in the center of the game board. 5. Per Arsenale sends you to a green space, a monument, located to the right on the game board. . |
|
What determines the number of 'Night of passion'' cards the winner must draw? The scale of passion points located around the edges of the game board contain four medallions. These medallions correspond with the numbers 10,20,30 and 40 on the passion point scale. When a pawn reaches one of these spaces, the player is allowed 1,2,3 or 4 'Night of Passion'' cards according to which medallion has been reached. However, the cards are only drawn at the end of the game. |
|
When can the ³permission to advance² Fortuna cards be used? This card may not be used right away. It replaces a roll of the die. The player retains this card until he plays it. However, he is not obliged to use it. These cards are usefully mainly in reaching specific spaces. |
